No inbuilt heating facilities in Govt Schools, admits DSEK | KNO

Says providing coal chimneys to all schools who have asked for it; after 30 years Dept saw 220 academic days previous year; Monitoring weather patterns for taking call on winter vacations

Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNO): Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tassaduq Hussain Mir Saturday said that the department has not any inbuilt heating facilities in government schools, however was providing coal chimneys to all those schools who have asked for it. DSEK said this on the sidelines of the Annual Day function organised by Government Boys Higher Secondary School Zainakout on Srinagar outskirts. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) exclusively, Mir said, “We encourage such events so that we will have an idea about the talent of our students and the hard-work of our teachers.” He said: “At the end of the academic year, we try to explore the things which were conducted by the institutions so that students and teachers will be encouraged.” The director further said that the department used to have fewer institutional days. “But after 30 years, we had 220 academic days in the previous year and that has empowered us to conduct such events as per the NEP.” He said, “We don’t have inbuilt heating systems but we have placed coal Chimneys wherever required. We have already provided available heating facilities to all those who have asked for it.” Asked about the winter break in the hilly and snow bound areas, DSEK said, “There are no special provisions for hilly and terrain areas to announce winter vacations but we monitor the weather situations out there so that we can take call accordingly.” On the untrained ReT teachers in the department, Mir said, “Maximum of our ReTs are trained and others are enhancing their qualifications. Infact as of now, the National awardee of Jammu Kashmir from the education department is a ReT teacher.” Meanwhile, DSEK and principal of the school released a school magazine of BHSS Zainakote, Srinagar. The teachers of the school said that it has collaborated with the department of wildlife and wetland for the collective response for the Hokersar cleaning campaign. Principal of the school, Ali Mohammad Rather appreciated the students and its faculty for their performances. “I have faith in my students and teachers. I am pretty optimistic that they have been and will be bringing laurels to the school,” he said—(KNO)
